Monday, June 16th, 2025 [New Orleans, LA] -Louisiana Appleseed, in proud partnership with NAACP, Winton County Self Help Cooperative, Acadiana Legal Service Corporation, Alex Barham Law, Northeast LA Bar Association, and United Way Northeast Louisiana will host a free Wills Clinic and legal education event on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arcadia High School, located at 967 Daniel Street, Arcadia, LA 71001.
This clinic will provide free legal assistance to eligible residents seeking to create simple wills and other essential estate planning documents. Attorneys will be available to assist participants in completing legally binding paperwork that protects family property, preserves generational wealth, and offers peace of mind for the future.
In addition to personalized legal assistance, the event will feature three informative presentations throughout the day. The first presentation, beginning at 10:00 AM, will focus on wills and property deeds, helping participants understand how to secure and transfer ownership of their homes and land. At 11:00 AM, a session on USDA lending programs will provide insight into financial resources and homeownership opportunities available through federal rural development programs. The final presentation, starting at 12:00 PM, will cover the succession process in Louisiana, offering guidance on how to legally transfer property after death.
The deadline to register for the clinic is Monday, June 17. Appointments for legal services are limited and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
